If you would have told me ten years ago that I’d be sitting in the Columbus area, obsessing over the books for local entrepreneurs, I probably would have laughed—mostly because I was busy navigating the fast-paced corporate accounting world of California.

I spent 20 years on the West Coast, honing my skills, earning my education, and working within high-level financial systems. It was a great chapter. But here’s a secret: My heart never actually left Ohio.

The “Neighborly” Factor

I was born in Ohio and spent most of my childhood in the suburbs of Cleveland (shoutout to my Cuyahoga County neighbors!). No matter how many palm trees I saw, I missed the Midwest work ethic. I missed the way neighbors look out for one another. And mostly, I missed the grit and passion of the small business owners who make this state run.

When the opportunity came to move back, I didn’t just walk; I ran. I raised my two kids here, and now I’m settled in the Columbus area with my husband, doing exactly what I love.
